Being Jewish in North York
One of the most diverse neighborhoods
North York is home for very diverse Jewish community. With apartment buildings, condominiums, free hold houses, new Jewish immigrants from FSU and Israel, Jews born and raised in Canada.
JNY is a one stop for everything Jewish in North York.
“I lived 24 years in Russia, 10 in Israel, 9 in Vancouver, 10 months in Richmond Hill, my family and myself always knew we are Jewish, but only when we moved to North York and became a part of the big family of JNY, only then we felt that we finally came home…”

Our Sages Say – “The world stands on three things”
The world stands upon three things - upon Torah, upon Avodah - divine service, and upon Gemilus Chasodim - acts of kindness. (Pirkei Avot)
This three things are the three pillars of the work JNY is doing -

Our Inspiration
“Let’s welcome Moshiach with acts of goodness and kindness”
—the Lubavitcher Rebbe
Inspired by seven generations of illustrious leaders beginning with Rabbi Schneur Zalman - the first Lubavitcher (Chabad) Rebbe – their students – Chassidim and Shluchim (Emissaries) have consistently been at the forefront of Jewish education and community activism. The work of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson – the Seventh Lubatcher Rebbe, who assumed leadership of Chabad in 1950, is legendary. Motivated by a profound love for humanity and spurred by boundless optimism and dedication, the Rebbe lifted the global Jewish community from the ashes of the Holocaust, launching an unprecedented range of Jewish institutions, outreach programs and social services.
JNY is devoted to fulfil it’s mission based on traditional Jewish values, teachings of Chabad, and the Rebbe's wisdom, vision and directions.
JNY Mission Statement
To be a Centre for everything Jewish for all Jewish residents of North York, by providing a warm home and facilitating educational, cultural, recreational and religious programs and activities, and fulfilling through this our part in the Rebbe’s goal to welcome Moshiach with acts of goodness and kindness.
